Trained professionals with Dallas Tree Surgeons understand how each tree species will react to different types of pruning. Most regular maintenance tree trimming can be done at any time of the year with a few exceptions.

Crown Clean-out:
The pruning of dead, dying, intersecting, weakly attached branches and water sprouts from a tree's canopy. Crown clean-out is the most common of our tree trimming procedures.

Crown Elevation:
Removal of the lower limbs of a tree in order to provide clearance for driveways, walkways, and buildings.

Cabling/Bolting:
The installation of high strength cables and/or threaded rod (bracing) to increase structural integrity in the tree.

Crown Reduction:
Pruning back leaders to lateral branches to reduce height or width of tree. This is done as a last resort to prevent complete removal of the tree.

When pruning trees, these are the only cuts that should be made:

Removing branches that cross and rub against each other
Removing dead or weak branches that may be hazardous or may lead to decay
Removing diseased or insect infested limbs
Removing limbs damaged by storm conditions, tornadoes and lightning
Removing limbs that interfere with wires or buildings
Training young trees for correct future growth
Eliminating excessive weight on trees tips
*No branch should be removed without a reason.
