Tree Surgeons
understand how each tree species will react to different
types of pruning. Most regular maintenance tree trimming
can be done at any time of the year with a few
exceptions.
|
| Crown Clean-out:
The
pruning
of dead, dying, intersecting, weakly attached branches
and water sprouts from a tree's canopy. Crown clean-out
is the most common of our tree trimming procedures.
Crown Elevation:
Removal
of the lower limbs of a tree in order to provide clearance
for driveways, walkways, and buildings.
Cabling/Bolting:
The installation of high strength cables and/or threaded
rod (bracing) to increase structural integrity in the tree.
Crown Reduction:
Pruning back leaders to lateral branches
to reduce height or width of tree. This is done as a last resort to prevent
complete removal of the tree.

| When pruning trees, these are the only cuts that
should be made:
|
| •
Removing
branches that cross and rub against each other
|
| •
Removing
dead or weak branches that may be hazardous or may lead
to decay |
| •
Removing
diseased or insect infested limbs |
| •
Removing
limbs damaged by storm conditions, tornadoes and
lightning |
| •
Removing
limbs that interfere with wires or buildings |
| •
Training
young trees for correct
future growth |
| •
Eliminating
excessive weight on trees tips |
| *No branch
should be removed without a reason. |
